Success Philosophy

When I speak in front of people I often ask the question, "How many people want something to change in their life?"  I don’t ever remember when somebody didn’t want to change something in his or her life.

Yet change is one thing we don’t want.  We don’t want things to change; we want them to be the same.  The most complaining I hear in the corporate world among employees is that something is changing.  The health plan is changing, the pay plan is changing, the boss is changing, and it doesn’t matter if it is for the good, people perceive the change as something bad.

As a matter of fact, the fear of change may be the number one mass fear of people today. The fear of public speaking has been said to be number one, just behind death.  After those two fears, the fear I see most often in people in their day-to-day lives is the fear of change, which is the fear of failure, and the fear of success.  The fear of change is on the minds of everyone, while death and public speaking are pushed back into the mind to be only brought out by events, typically.

We are taught if we don’t succeed try; try again.  We have been taught that not everything we do in life will be successful. We don’t do something in life because we are afraid to fail.

Get a load of this: people are more afraid of success.  Success means you have to continue to perform.  Success means you might have more liabilities and responsibilities.  So the best way not to fail, or have success, is to not change what you have now.

We make a choice not to change.  We make choices, and these choices are going to determine if we are going to change.

Everyone wants to change, but they are afraid of making the choices that could propel them into failure or success.

Our self image is not strong, or good.  We have a mental model of ourselves, and the world around us that may or not be true.  If we have bad information then we damage our self image.  “Someone has to share with me how to do something before I do it.  I cannot just look at something and do it.  I have to be taught.”  Someone in my life has told me that I need to have someone teach me everything; I just can’t go out and do it.  I developed this mental model in school.  My teachers told me not to do something until I was told how to do it and when to do it. This limits my self image.  I have seen this mental model in a lot of people. They have been taught this, and they believe that this is the way they must behave.  This is just one example; there are as many examples as people, or even societies.  Society will say that the world is flat, and people will believe the world is flat. That affects their mental model, and their self image therefore says, “I am a person that is limited in geography, so what adventures I can have must be limited.”

We have to open our minds to the possibilities that what we believe now may not be correct tomorrow.  And we don’t like to do that because we are afraid of change in our lives.  We don’t want to be wrong in our thinking, it will affect the way we live our lives.

Failure and how to overcome it.

Attitude is going to determine how much risk we are going to take.  If we have a positive attitude about us, and the world around us, we are naturally inclined to take more risk.  We will look for a new opportunity in our life that can make it better.  We will think of better ideas for our companies, because we are not afraid of consequences.  A person with a positive mental attitude will take more risk, and have less fear of change, making choices, a better self image, a more developed mental model of the world and the people around them.

When you have failure, put it behind you.  If you have had failure, and decide not to move forward and make your life something special, you have lost.  We want to help you overcome failure in your life by focusing on developing character, values and goals.  Don’t waste God’s greatest gift of being able to create. If everyone stopped when they had failures we wouldn’t have the world we have today.

The greatest story ever told about failure is Thomas Edison’s search for the light bulb.  Every student in America knows the story. Edison tried over 10,000 times with different experiments until he found the one that worked. What if Thomas have given up at 9,999 tries?

Don’t be a victim of life’s failures, or life change. You can make a difference in your life right now by focusing on the positive and seeking direction with a plan.

The Four Dynamics

You see the Four Dynamics make a circle of life, and this circle can move you forward, and you can be very successful at whatever you want.  Choice leads to change, which leads to defining what your own self image is, and what your mental model of the world is.

Your self image is what you think of yourself on the inside, and your mental model is what your mind projects the outside world to be.

Your attitude is developed from your self image and mental models, and if your picture of the world and yourself is positive, you will take risk in achieving life’s positive goals. Of course with risk there can be failure, but also success, and if you do run into failure you can overcome this failure with focus on character, values, and goals. That will bring you back to Choice and change. And so we go around the Four Dynamics developing ourselves, and making us better every day.

At Life Motivations we want to be able to help you navigate your way to success, and not be a victim of life change.  We instead guide you toward making your own personal change.  We have done it, so you can do it. We bring to you our message of hope, love, kindness, and your greatness – yes, your greatness - so you can achieve what you want in life and feel accomplishment, happiness and self-satisfaction in your life.  Join us and become better at being in the world.
