Step Jones, Founder & President

While it's easy to say that Step Jones went from childhood growing up on a chicken hatchery in a small town in Indiana to successful business leader in Beverly Hills, that just touches on the complete story.

Step is the first to admit that it's the mix of failures along with the successes over the course of his life and career that gave him the insight and knowledge that he used to develop the success philosophies that he now shares with groups and organizations around the country.

After moving to California in the seventies to attend the University of California San Diego, where he obtained his degree in Philosophy, he followed in his grandfather's footsteps and applied to work for a car dealership and set his career in motion. Step moved through a succession of increasingly responsible jobs, progressing to General Sales Manager of Center BMW before buying his own dealership in the mid-1980s.

While that dealership was to eventually fail, and leave Step broke and back working on a showroom floor, it was the turning point that launched him on the path to true success. He studied all the teachings of modern success theorists, and with his grounding in traditional philosophy, Step developed his own success philosophy: A multi-step process designed to develop a complete successful person, with not just goals but a complete plan to make goals into realities.

Step's plan for his own success eventually led him to Beverly Hills BMW where he served for seven years as Center Operator and General Manager. During that time, he not only turned around a previously failing dealership and built it into a $120 million dollar a year retail success story, he also dealt with the dealership's purchase by and integration into a Fortune 300 parent company, Sonic Automotive. His leadership has been regularly honored for excellence in Employee Satisfaction, Customer Satisfaction, and multiple years of recognition for the dealership's being named a Center of Excellence by BMW North America, the manufacturer's highest award.

In addition, Step served as Regional Vice President of Sonic Automotive for Los Angeles, with the responsibility for more than 450 employees and over $400 Million in sales.

Step also acted as the facilitator for BMW's monthly "Dealer 20" group of center operators, and developed training and employee motivation programs for a wide variety of dealerships of different car makes during a stint as Sonic Automotive's Regional Vice President in the Los Angeles area.

But even as he built a highly successful automobile franchise, Step continued to develop and refine his success philosophies, and committed the next stage of his life to sharing his success with others.

Life Motivations is the fulfillment of Step's dream to create an organization that gives people the practical tools they need to truly create the lives they deserve.

Step is constantly active in the community, having just served as the President of the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, and on the boards of many charitable, service, and civic organizations.

Step lives in the hills of Los Angeles with his wife Marina, a Boeing rocket scientist, and their four-year-old son Chance, who is fluent in both English and his mother's native Russian.
